250 years ago, the Chevalier Charles-François du Buysson, a young nobleman from the Bourbonnais region of France, set sail alongside Lafayette to join the American insurgents fighting for independence.
His remarkable journey inspired the graphic novel Amériques, by Esther Gil and Laurent Paturaud.
Today, high school students from Moulins and New York are preparing to bring his story back to life, both on stage and on screen.
They need your support to make it happen.Students from Lycée Banville in Moulins (Allier) and the Lycée Français de New York, drawing inspiration from the graphic novel and the life of the Chevalier du Buysson, will create a Franco-American theatrical production.
In spring 2027 in New York, and then in autumn 2027 in the Allier region of France, they will bring this historic expedition to life on stage, along with the courage of the Americans who fought for their freedom.
At the same time, a group of young filmmakers will make a documentary chronicling this Franco-American theatrical adventure.
The project is part of the commemorations marking the 250th anniversary of the arrival of Lafayette and his companions in the United States, a shared milestone in the history of France and the United States.
I-Dialogos supports this particularly meaningful initiative, whose significance extends far beyond history, especially at a time of geopolitical turmoil and declining diplomacy.
